APS is Moving from Novell Groupwise to Microsoft Outlook
To meet growing business and educational needs, APS will continue to enhance our technology and embark on a complete migration/transition to a new server and e-mail system beginning in the fall. This project will replace the current Novell servers with Microsoft servers and centralize all servers in the Information Technology data center. A new e-mail system, Microsoft Outlook, will replace GroupWise. A wide range of training options will be available to help users learn the basics of the new e-mail and calendar applications.
Once the migration is complete, APS staff and students will see an increase in the capacity, reliability, and speed of file servers and e-mail. Staff will also have access to improved management tools and enhanced web and software applications, particularly for the classroom. Furthermore, the improved infrastructure will be designed with the capacity for growth to meet the needs of APS well into the future.
All APS staff members will be directly impacted by the migration to the new e-mail and network operating systems. Site migration is scheduled to begin in September. Please reference the Migration Schedule for the most recent timeline.

These improvements are made possible thanks to the generosity of Aurora voters who supported our 2008 bond initiative. We are grateful to our voters for supporting technology in APS.
